SoCrowd’s contributing to vital homelessness research – and we need YOUR help

Did you know that 120,000 young people in the UK faced homelessness in 2021?

That’s a lot of youngsters dealing with very tough times.

We’ve got to confess, we were shocked by the scale of the problem. Homelessness is a massive issue, and it’s not an easy one to solve.

That’s why we, and our friends at Comms Creatives, are teaming up with the Chartered Institute of Housing’s (CIH) presidential campaign, Homeful, to support their research.

Home: it’s more than just a place

Having a home isn’t just about having a roof over your head. Home means so much more than that. Like safety. Security. Love. Happiness.

And when you lose your home, you miss out on so many things that most of us take for granted. Like being able to find a job or carry on learning. Not to mention having a place you can relax and just be yourself.

What’s Homeful doing to help?

Homeful supports End Youth Homelessness, an alliance of local and regional charities working together to end homelessness.

They’ve launched a research project to find out how housing associations can get proactive in preventing youth homelessness in the UK.

In fact, the Homeful campaign wants to know exactly what home means to people. It’s vital research, and we’re helping them find out. But we need your help, too.

This is where you come in…

That’s right. We want to hear what home means to YOU. Tell us on social using #HomeIs and if we get 200 entries, we’ve pledged £1,000 to help Homeful continue their important work. And they’ll get to add your answers to their research as well.

That’s all you have to do. Just like or follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Insta or LinkedIn, then share what #HomeiIs to you with a pic or a video that sums it up.

And as a thank you for taking part, we’ve got some great prizes up for grabs. One lucky winner’ll get:

  • 12 months’ free use of our platform with full support from the SoCrowd team
  • A social media audit worth £3K
  • 12 months’ free access to the Comms Creatives Social Media Academy.

We’ve already had some great entries. So if you need any inspiration, check out what our chums at Thrive Homes and Nottingham Community Housing Association said. It’s clear that #HomeIs more than just walls and a roof.

One final thing…

If you pop along to our stand at the CIH Housing Conference in June, we’re giving every competition entrant a set of earphones – for FREE!

So if you’re going, we’ll see you there? Stand G46, Manchester Central, 28th – 30th June – get the date in your diary.

We think every young person in the UK should have a home. Let’s all do our bit to help
